How exhaustion affects the baby?

Most women I visit in their homes are still working full or part time throughout their pregnancy. It’s not easy sometimes. Many women tell me they are exhausted all of the time and worry this will affect the baby.
I tell them fatigue during pregnancy is normal, especially in the first and last trimester. Some women experience more fatigue than others and while feeling tired won’t harm your baby, it can make life more difficult. Ways to cope with fatigue during pregnancy include extra rest, eating a balanced diet and moderate exercise. If you work outside the home, you might have to adjust your schedule to be less busy. This can include cutting back your work hours if possible or asking family and friends to assist you with housework, errands and meals. Or perhaps flexible work arrangements could be made such as teleworking and flexible start and stop times. Bringing in your tribe of people can be especially helpful during this period of time, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask when you are feeling overwhelmed!
